Starry starry overnight stay: Steigenberger hotel, Bad Homburg Germany review
Checking into the Steigenberger hotel in Bad Homburg is like taking a city break in an upmarket art gallery.
This beautifully appointed hotel, with its art deco décor, is distinguished by a welcoming gallery from the Mapawlo Collection, and the huge paintings which line each floor. If your interests straddle luxury travel and art, this has to be one of the best hotels in Frankfurt to visit.
When we arrived, the Steigenberger hotel reception was dominated by huge, colourful portraits of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Elvis looks down from the first floor landing.

German born artist and photographer Mapawlo (aka Markus Pawlowski) specialises in portraits of pop culture icons and fantastical sculptures, imagine Jeff Koons via Warhol if you will, and they certainly enliven the foyer.

All these pieces are available to buy. The Monroe is listed at €29,950, while a strikingly colourful Salvador Dali and monochromatic Mick Jagger are both at €23,450 apiece.
Mapawlo’s sculptures are also a lot of fun. Perspective, which features a cheeky gnome peering through a crack in concrete, has a €4,750 price tag. The striking You Rock It, which is a skull wearing a crown, is priced at  €12,450.

We loved the hotel’s modern art vibe.

Steigenberger hotel Bad Homburg – Rooms and amenities
The Steigenberger features 174 guest rooms and suites. All rooms are equipped with high-quality bedding, and air conditioning. The free Wi-Fi is fast (enough). Room sizes are generous. Our guest room had a huge double bed (which was exceptionally comfortable) and wall-wide floral mural.
The hotel’s amenities include a fitness centre, sauna, and steam room, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing or business meetings. Another key attraction is the terrace, which offers views of the town and surrounding countryside. This outdoor oasis is the place to enjoy a cup of Joe in the morning or a glass of vino in the evening.
Steigenberger hotel Bad Homburg – restaurant and bar
The hotel features a top-notch restaurant, Ritter’s, that serves international cuisine at night and provides a generous breakfast (cooked, pastries and fruit) first thing. The bar, to the right as you enter, just past the piano, is stylish with deluxe lighting fixtures, plenty of seating and jars of snacks.

Steigenberger hotel Bad Homburg – Location
The Steigenberger hotel is located opposite Bad Homburg’s Kurpark spa gardens, amid upmarket residential surroundings. This makes it a great base for exploring the town and its various attractions.
Bad Homburg is located 20 kilometres north of Frankfurt, Germany’s bustling financial hub. With picturesque landscapes, and a relaxed atmosphere, this spa town is an uplifting destination for a short vacation. Bad Homburg is best known for its thermal springs, which have attracted visitors for centuries. The town’s thermal baths offer a range of treatments and therapies, making it a popular destination for wellness and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy a dip in the hot springs, indulge in a spa treatment, or simply take a stroll through the gardens.
Bad Homburg is home to a variety of cultural and architectural landmarks. Take time out to stroll through the old town and marvel at the half-timbered buildings, cobblestone streets, and historic landmarks, including the iconic 14th century White Tower (Weisser Turm). This is a must-visit destination, as it houses a popular museum and offers instagrammable views of the town and surrounding countryside.

Steigenberger hotel Bad Homburg – Verdict
We rate this premium hotel as an ideal mix of modern amenities, traditional charm, and impeccable service. It’s a great option if you’re looking to experience the best of Bad Homburg, and its arty aesthetic is certain to delight culture vultures.  Two thumbs up.
